Higher output could conceal higher energy use.
The plant could freeze more and spend more on power without seeing the electricity consumed by each kilogram. Monthly tonnes and a power bill did not explain which freezer used that power or when it was running outside production.
The freezer became the unit of comparison.
Neuron linked each freezer’s kilograms with its kilowatt-hours. Blower runtime before and after production, and time with cold-room doors open, became part of that same record. The comparison was electricity per kilogram, on the freezer that produced it.
Production and the power team used these records together to read kWh per kilogram at freezer level. That gave them a basis for examining energy use alongside the production it supported.
More output with lower energy intensity.
From the first month of the year to the last, energy intensity moved from 0.61 to 0.56 kWh per kilogram. Monthly output rose from 741 to 968 metric tonnes. The report puts the saving at ₹4.3 lakh per month, or about 54,600 kWh.
The comparison behind the result.
| Measure | First month | Last month |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly output | 741 tonnes | 968 tonnes |
| Energy intensity | 0.61 kWh/kg | 0.56 kWh/kg |
| Reported monthly saving | — | ₹4.3 lakh |
| Reported monthly energy saving | — | About 54,600 kWh |
Avanti Frozen, one-year comparison. Output is monthly; energy intensity is electricity per kilogram. Savings are the monthly figures reported in the case study.
